The Road Not Taken

The Road Not Taken

As part of the Fine Art Program and Collection at Montefiore Einstein, Montefiore New Rochelle features local artists in The Queen City Art Gallery, an innovative rotating exhibition space located in the main lobby of Montefiore New Rochelle Hospital.

The current exhibit, called “The Road Not Taken,” features the work of New Rochelle photographer Marisa Boan. It takes inspiration from Robert Frost’s poem and features rich, floral photography that invites visitors to look closely at the roads (both real and metaphorical) that they travel on each day. “If there are no flowers along that road, you may want to take a different road,” Boan said.

MNR Art Exhibit

The Queen City Art Gallery is a collaboration between the Montefiore Fine Art Program and the New Rochelle Council on the Arts. It runs three seasonal exhibitions annually in support of Montefiore Einstein’s mission to heal, teach, discover and advance the health of the communities we serve. “The Road Not Taken” is the gallery’s summer 2022 show.

The Road Not Taken

Exhibitions at The Queen City Art Gallery feature a wide range of artwork with diverse themes and media that appeal to a large and varied audience, while being respectful of cultural backgrounds and the New Rochelle community. Gallery exhibitions are designed to enrich the lives of Montefiore Einstein staff and the wider community and to enhance their understanding of contemporary art in a medical center context. They aim to bring a different awareness of emotion to all those who pass through the lobby.

Jodi Moise

Jodi Moise, Director of the Montefiore Einstein Fine Art Program and Collection and Curator for The Queen City Art Gallery, said, “The Fine Art Program has met with great success and has garnered a wealth of positive feedback. Data show that art makes a difference impacting stress and pain levels, thereby reducing length of stay and improving overall health outcomes."

The Queen City Gallery exhibits original artwork and is open to all artists who live or work in New Rochelle or Westchester County. It is located in the main lobby of Montefiore New Rochelle, 101 Glover Johnson Place, New Rochelle.
